Handicappers Like Colbert Station in April’s Grand National

The strategy for betting on horse race is up to each individual.  Some prefer to put their money on the safe bet, the favorite.  Others like the idea of watching a longshot give them a chance at a big payday.  The 2013 Grand National will offer the chance to all types of bettors.  One of the co-favorites is Seabass.  He will surely draw a lot of attention when people are making their wagers, but there are other horses that are also going to get a lot of attention.

Colbert Station will be attractive to those who like a horse with longer odds.  He has started out as a 22-1 longshot, but many think that this horse is ready to surprise.  The nine year old horse will probably be ridden by Tony McCoy who won the race only three years ago riding Don’t Push.

Ted Walsh trains out of Nas yard where both Seabass and Colbert Station call home.  He has won this race in the past with Papillon 12 years ago.  That might seem like a long time since a victory, but it becomes more impressive when you realize how few horses he works with.  Seabass has become the favorite because of his success in the past.  He was ridden by Ted Walsh’s daughter Katie last year.  They were able to achieve the best finish ever by a female rider.  The problem is that this year, Seabass will carry more weight and it will be difficult to repeat the previous success.

It seems like Colbert Station is in a better chance to succeed than Seabass is, but it is possible for Seabass to have a repeat performance from last year.  The weight that Colbert Station is going to have to carry will not prove to be much of a hindrance which should help with his chances.

Colbert station recently showed that he has the chance to do well with the performance at Leopardstown.  He was able to show that he could handle the long distance and a crowded field.  There were 28 horses in the field and the length of the course was 3 miles.

The biggest thing that will keep people from trusting Colbert Station is his experience.  He has only had five races similar to the Grand National and that inexperience could cause him trouble at Aintree.

JP McManus is the owner of Colbert Station, but he also has six other horses entered in the Grand National.  That means that there is no guarantee that McCoy will be riding Colbert Station.  That decision will not be made until it gets closer to April 6th.  It is very possible that McCoy will find himself riding Sunnyhillyboy who almost won the race last year.

Sunnyhillyboy was ridden last year by Richie Mclernon who could be riding him again.  That is the decision that McManus will have to make as the race approaches.

McManus also has entered a horse that is carrying 289-1 odds.  Lost Glory might have a chance as he has been victorious in 4 out of his last 5 races.  On His Own and Prince De Beauchene are other horses that will garner the gamblers attention.  They are owned and trained by Willie Mullins and Graham Wylie and they believe that their horses are better than the horse they owned that won this race in 2005.

Both of those horses have problems.  On His Own hurt his leg in a race last year.  There are no assurances that the leg is completely healed yet.  Prince De Beauchene will be carrying a lot of weight and may not be used to it despite his track record of jumping in the past.

Another longshot to consider is The rainbow Hunter.  Like any horse that is chosen by the bettors, they all have a chance to win, but no one knows who will end up in the winner’s circle for sure. Horse racing betting with sbobet, sbobet casino or
