HORSE TRAINING

At DeMille Foxtrotters we offer full service training of your foxtrotting horses. We train them from ground one to finish or to any stage you want to take over. We specialize in producing the ultimate pleasure horse in gait and manners. After training them in the basics we put many miles on them in all kinds of terrain and situations, all the while teaching them what they need to know so you can relax and enjoy the ride! We train with gentle calm methods, teaching them to trust & obey. You will be pleased with the results of this type of gentle firmness. We also analyze their gaits and adjust them through training and corrective shoeing when needed.

Alma is a Utah State University Horse Training School Graduate with over 20 years experience. Ami, Van, and Anna (ages 9 thru 14) ride the horses along side Dad, once they are going well, thus putting many more miles on your horse. The average horse with 60 days training will have been taught basic skills and obedience, and have been ridden apx 400 miles, in all kinds of terrain.

"There are a lot of horse trainers out there who'll tell you how great they are. No matter how convincing they sound, I strongly suggest that you ride several of the horses he or she has trained, before you send your horse to them. Words don't mean much; the proof is in the ride!" Alma DeMille

$1,000/Month Includes boarding & feed. We are currently taking reservations for spring and summer of 2010...only a few openings left!

I now am requiring a $100 NON-Refundable deposit to schedule your horse for training, thus reserving your time on my calendar. $400 will be paid at the time your horse arrives and the balance of $500 paid at the end of the month of training.

Currently booked for 2008 & 2009 & almost full for 2010. To get on a waiting list in case I have openings come up, give me a call or email. Thanks, Alma

Training Guarantee: "It depends on the horse, how far it will get in any given time. But I will work with each horse in training for at least one hour every weekday, or 22 hrs/month. Most gentle and intelligent horses will be safe for a good to intermediate rider to ride in a month and in two months will be good for all riders except beginners. By the end of a 3 month schedule a horse will usually be good at all trail riding, and be well started on whatever discipline the owner has asked me to teach it. At the end of the 4th month it should be good at whatever thing it was taught and be a total pleasure and joy to ride & work with. Every horse is different and some need years to calm down and act like they should, while others become safe for even little children in a matter of only a few weeks. There is not any guarantee how your horse will turn out, only that I will do my best as if it were my own animal and spend the time you have paid me for with your horse."

Below are links to my four favorite trainers and the courses they offer. I've trained many horses over the years and have had all my clients very pleased with the improvement in their horses when I was done. My training methods are not new; they've been used by other horsemen that have learned to understand the mind and body language of the horse and teach the horse to trust and obey them. I have developed my own program & style of training, which works very well to produce the most enjoyable & trustworthy pleasure horses in the world.  I use many of the same methods & techniques used by each of these trainers and would encourage anyone wanting to become a top-notch trainer to learn from these sources! Best Wishes, Alma DeMille

(If you are not currently an experienced trainer, I recommend looking closely at each of these programs and then choosing one of them to learn well. Stick to that one rather than combining elements from each of them as I've done. Once you've mastered one method, you will enjoy learning from the others as well. Trying to follow them all at first will not only mess you up, but will totally confuse your horse!)
